The Poplórico shop is a personal brand I've created, dedicated to Latin American cultural celebration fused with nostalgic pop culture icons. As a Salvadoran-Mexican born in the US, I found it was so rare that I could celebrate my culture in ways *I* personally liked. I wanted to steer away from the typical "concha" and "Frida Kahlo" stickers that people mass-produced and create something completely unique.
THE PROBLEM
Develop a brand that is equally celebratory of my cultural heritage as a Salvadoran and Mexican while maintaining appeal to those outside of the culture.
THE SOLUTION
Leading with authenticity rather than explanation. This involved rooting visuals, language, and storytelling in the textures, humor, and traditions of Salvadoran and Mexican culture, while emphasizing universal themes like joy, nostalgia, and identity.
By designing through a personal and unapologetic lens, and pairing it with strong design systems, accessible context, and intentional storytelling, the brand becomes both a celebration for those within the culture and an open invitation for those outside it to connect, appreciate, and engage.
